Velociraptor was a Cretaceous carnivorous dinosaur with powerful jaws made up of about 80 sharp teeth. Its hind limbs were equipped with a retractable claw, able to position itself almost vertically to stab the skin of its prey. The tail of the velociraptor, stiffened by bony tendons, helped it to balance itself when it stood up to spear its prey like a large carnivorous dinosaur.
